THINfilm Decals are the finest decals made for model railroading.
The uniqueness of the decal begins with the paper; a special order, thin membrane paper is used in the imprint process. When the decal is transferred to your model, it is virtually impossible to see the edge lines, making the decal look real and natural.
The finest modeling, water/waterslide transfer decals, made with a fine membrane paper. Decals add detail, and authenticity to your scale model/s.
THINfilm was developed and introduced in the very early 70’s by an avid modeler, Chuck Francis. During that time there were no narrow gauge decals available on the market that would satisfy the detail and precise decaling Chuck wanted, so he made the decision to produce them on his own.
His friends, in the Narrow Gauge Modeling groups, encouraged him to expand the line to include: Denver and Rio Grande, Rio Grande Southern and the Colorado and Southern models in Ho, S and O scales, as well as most of the Narrow Gage Locomotives and equipment for the modeling enthusiast.
In the mid 90’s, Fred Hill (owner of the Coach Yard) and his wife Judy were attending Model Railroad Conventions. Though Judy enjoyed the travelling, she was discouraged she had no identity other than …“Fred’s wife”.
At the same time, Chuck decided to retire and was looking for a way to keep the THINfilm line going. He approached Fred, a long time friend, both members of the Slim Gauge Guild and a customer of the Whistle Stop. Fred offered to purchase the line and give it to Judy to manage, so she would “be somebody”.
Today, THINfilm is still owned and operated by Judy Hill. Outside of the addition of Passenger Car and Motor Power decals in Ho scale, the line remains the same high-quality and consistency as it did during its time with Chuck.
